Launched on April 26, 2004, the 787 "Dreamliner" offers a significant reduction in operating costs as compared to current airliners. It is projected to offer fuel burn rates 20% lower than the 777-300 and burn less fuel on a seat/mile basis than the A380. Boeing expects an overall 20% gain in efficiency through the use of composite materials and aforementioned fuel efficiencies.
